Tracy Morgan Sues Walmart For Truck Crash
On July 10, 2014, comedian and former star of "30 Rock," Tracy Morgan, and three others, filed a lawsuit against Walmart for the injuries they suffered in a deadly limo-bus crash on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Morgan's injuries include a fractured leg as well as a broken nose and ribs. The lawsuit alleges that fatigued truck driver caused the collision due, at least in part, to the demands Walmart placed on him. It now appears that the driver was close to (but had not exceeded) his Federally permitted maximum service hours. There is also evidence that the driver may not have slept in the 24-hours prior to the truck crash.
Last year, truck crashes involving fatigued trucked drivers resulted in nearly 4,000 deaths. In the last four years, deaths caused by fatigued truck drivers have increased each year.
