Check Your Insurance Policy...You'll Thank Us Later...

Can you imagine ever buying a policy where you pay a premium, where what you're actually doing is protecting everyone else at a higher level than you protect yourself? Why would you ever buy a policy like that? The answer is you probably wouldn't if you knew what you were buying.

When you're done watching this video, I want you to go check your insurance policy, because it's possible that that's exactly what you've done. What we're seeing more and more of, however, is people that might be buying levels of insurance to protect everyone else on the road, what we call bodily injury coverage, at one level, say $100,000 to protect each person you might hit and hurt. But what often happens is they actually sell and even get you to sign that you want a higher limit of coverage to protect everyone else on the road than you want the insurance company to protect you.

The reason they're doing that is they make more money selling bodily injury coverage than they do under-insured and uninsured motorist coverage. Simple fact is, the laws require them to advise that you have the right to buy under-insured and uninsured motorist policy at the same level as your bodily injury coverage. When you actually price it, what you find out is for just 2 or $3 a month, often, you could increase your premium so you actually protect yourself and everyone else at the same level.

Check your policy. Don't allow that funny business. You call your agent and tell them, "Hey, I want to change this back to the way it should be, which is the same level of uninsured/under-insured motorist coverage as my bodily injury coverage protect everyone else."
